Healing

I pray for healing over you.

It’s been a while, ah, since our last chat. You keep reminding me. haha. Thanks for ‘checking’ in on me eh. I’m not too sure if you can see this, or why you can’t access the site from there.

Do keep safe and warm. Surprisingly, it’s been cool and wet here too … the monsoon is setting in and the weather is nice but at times chilly. I can imagine it being all ‘brr’ over there now. So, I hope that there will be nice warm sunshine each morning to dispel the cold and warm each day for ya.

and if there isn’t, there would be your aromatic hot coffee to keep you warm …

Dun Give Up

Edwin…

I understand it is a tough patch for you now…It’s gonna be over soon..just barely a onth and you are graduating.Don’t have to worrry about finding a job..what will come will come. Don’t bother about what other say. It’s your life remember. Don’t let peer pressure determine the time frame to find a job. Yes, of course, i am working now and it is easier said than done, but finding a right job is important. You have the network and resources and i know you will soon find the job, it’s more on doing what you like. For me, i do miss the times i have in Fudan and our internship…but LEARNing has been redefined here in China..i am really learning everyday and for someone who loves changes..this is exciting..and is see myself growing …tat’s why training is something i will never let go …coz i need to learn to develop people..and to do so..i have to learn to be develop myself first and set an example..i hope you find your career passion..but for now..it’s just that few more days to presentation…and 16 years of education is OVER! So just remember..make the last few moments in your education life memorable! I studied hard for mine..but i had you then with me..thou i might not be in Singapore…to study with you in SDE..MAC…SOC..having you as a company def made the last few moments of my education in NUS memorable in some way!

bd

so, after the little skype session about your new strategy for business development, i sense slight weariness and fustration.

anyway, here’s my 2 cents worth (for all that matters, it was alittle after my heavy meal of Adam Rd Nasi Lemak and Tiong Bahru Indian Rojak that I thought of this train of ideas, which I had better get it down before it slips me by) …

bd isn’t a one off thing, neither is it an overnight thing, especially not in the industry that you are in – training – where usually the aim is to achieve long term benefits and development for the customers. therefore results aren’t short term and we should not be overwhelmed or discouraged by luke warm response in the short run.

I would say focusing on a particular area or industry for BD would be a good choice, but considering that you are only 1 person doing all the work for bd, I would suggest actually to cover a few areas or industries simultaneously. Since you do not have the luxury of a team where there are individual people covering specific industries and the fact that results aren’t immediate, it’s possibly better in the long run to establish yourself in a couple of industries (not all, but some which you had already identified as some potential). Being too focused on 1 area only and then switching when you think it’s not good probably migt not be as effective as every few months, in the worst case scenario, you would have to switch strategy and mindset.

Therefore, multi prong approach, where you continue to follow up on leads in the areas you have already identified, but also slowly explore other growth areas. Do it in stages so you wouldn’t be overwhelm all at once. Possibly the rewards would only come in later, but by then you would have a larger “potential” customer base to keep casting your net over.

and that’s all for tonight. back to moi coding, which shall continue on throughout tmr, which is a FREE day!, yea!

Veuve Cliequot (Rose)

You got your champagne?

Here’s wishing that you hit your sales target as soon as possible and then can ‘pop’ the champagne to celebrate!

Anyway, welcome back to Shanghai! Hope you managed your luggage without too much trouble!?

Spontaneity

1 element of life I fail to practise enough in life.

Therefore, feel good that you are letting me experience another side of life.

Your last minute requests, my unexpected twist of events.

From Hougang tau sar pia, to Hougang ban chien kueh, to shoes, to ikea, to black pepper crab, to Rochestor, to Fong seng, to vivo, etc … in just 4 days … it’s thrilling! (haha … i think i made 5 trips to your place today, getting really familiar with Jurong West … =) )

Here’s wishing you a safe journey back to Shanghai this afternoon, whether you read this before you get on the plane or after you get off.

I’m sure you will continue to make the full use of time in Shanghai, so enjoy yourself there and learn as much as you can.

Dunno when is the next time to meet up, but till then … here’s to more msn, more skype and more yak yak calls till midnight.

You're coming on a jet plane

(Sung to the tune of “Leaving on a Jet Plane”)

By the time you get this, you should be back in Singapore. Has it been 2 months already? Seemed so long, yet seemed so fast. Time, indeed, is a peculiar matter that humans just can’t place their fingers on (figuratively and literally).

So, what can you do in your short (long by your standards) trip here?

1. Wedding of your old friend.
2. Dinner with other old friends.
3. Brunch with same ol’ bunch of old friends.
4. Lunch and dinners at favourite food hang out places.

Alright, besides food … hmm …

There’s Vivo City to visit. It’s ready just like you said, just in time for your October return trip.
There’s grocery shopping for the next stock of Singapore food to last through the winter till next spring.

In any case, welcome back to sunny Singapore (even though for haze sake, the sun refuses to reveal it’s radiant glow)!!!

Mooncakes From Bengawan Solo

Thanks for being so thoughtful. So and So said i was expecting some presents from Singapore and in fact believe or not, even if he didn’t say so, i knew if i said i wanted something, you will try your best to get it for me. It’s not about you being predictable,it’s about being thoughtful and delivering what i wanted for me coz i am too absent minded and lazy to do it on my own or have no chance to do it at all. They are just like my ideas…i talk about them but will never attempt .Tolerating people like this requires patience..so thanks again for being so understanding. So do let me know what i can do for you ..i “try” if i can remember …hehe

I will be sharing my Bengawan with my colleagues..they have been very nice to me and of course..sharing is always a joy…of course i must thank you for that, because most of them have never eaten “bing Pi” mooncakes..

Hope you have a break through in you work just like i am hoping for my break through in presentation…May God bless us both..Amen

6th Sense

The mysterious sixth sense. A hunch, an intuition, a premonition, a feeling …

Wow! It’s so 灵! (or, someone drop some hint, is it?) [or, really so predictable, eh?]

Nonetheless, you should be getting it tonight, i think!? Enjoy it (shan’t say what it is yet, if it’s still a secret – i hope)!

I shall now return to ‘bug’ catching.

In your mind

Thanks for leaving mein your mind all the time.

So 感动 that everytime you go to somewhere cool, some place nice andwhen you are doing something exciting, you would remember that you will bring me or that we should go together when I get over there. I’m not counting, but I’m sure I have enough places to go,things to eat, things to try from your recommendation to last the entire year. Hahaha!

Am very happy that you are doing well over there. Not just work work work, but got a great mix of work and excitement.

Do take the Oct Hols to relax and “smell the flowers” (though autumn abit hard to find flowers, right?) and have a good rest!

I saw that on your skype…and i thought for a while. There will be many Edwin she might have come across but only 1 Fionna will rememeber so far…someone whom she is very grateful  for coming into her life when she most needed it ….

(1) To call her to “find out” she is doing well becoz she’s sad of her sis’s departure

(2) To call her and ask her if she has “something to complain “after reading her blog

(3) To be the messenger -buy her sis a motivational book which she knows will give “jie” strength when she is alone back in Scotland

(4)  To live up with all her ” last minute requests and got sabotage to organize events which he absolutely has no idea about till the very last. sec via msn .”Dun we hate technology sometimes…

(5) To hear her yat non stop till the wee hours …about nothing at all….

(6) To persuade him to join her here in Shanghai, thinking everyone is like her…now she finally learn …to “respect “others for their decision

(7) To ask him to join a dinner w/o his consent in China, slow enuff to realise that people is here for holidays…not here to “people meet with you”..sorry , i really still want to apologize for that…no Mr Ting was nice not to grumble anything….hehe

(8) To help her shift her house and bring her tonnes of luggage…

Welll..for a nice someone like this…..she is happy…for the many kind gestures he did for her…got a lot more….but dun want Mr Ting to be in cloud 9…rmb Cambodia.
