Time flies! So fast, it’s one year liao … am glad that I can say you are thriving quite well in Shanghai. That is a good thing, though must also rest more, and don’t over tire to entertain and to get guanxi.

Why you hesitate to call me to complain? Good or bad news I also will listen one … my forte (besides being a huge critic) is also being a good listener. Actually I also often wish to ring you up just to chat with you. Of course, I try not to complain too much, but can’t help it I just do. It’s just me lah … 本性难移 …

I hope you had a good weekend. A lot of things happening here … Million is in town with Jinsi, and another of their partners. That’s just after Steven went back. So, it’s back to back rush here rush there. Am contemplating how all this will turn out and see how I fit in the big picture.

Everyone wants me … Steven wants me to join him at the new upcoming JV in Abu Dhabi, the client says he also wants me in Abu Dhabi … even calls his son, Ali, … Edwin Ali …, then GM in Fujairah wants to keep me in Fujairah to set up company properly, then I want myself somewhere else … (“,)

Enough food for thought for the start of the week.

我喜欢今天，终于可以懒睡到10 点钟。好久没写中文的博客了，心情好久写中文吧。今天打完了羽毛球过后，就和我的女友一起去新乐路的Sakurado喝咖啡，读我的: The Starbucks Experience.

不知不觉在上海也工作了一年，发现时间过的很快，朋友也跟着时间与日俱增。对于自己的工作还是充满着热情，期望，就是应酬多了许多，估计一个星期三次，都出去到三更半夜才回家，建立所谓的“关系”。

读了你的博客，知道你皮肤过敏，希望一切都恢复了.有时候很想找打电话给你，投诉一番，可是这不是我一般的作风，就希望和你谈的都是快乐的事情。也了解在中东国家工作的痛苦。

Paiseh, lah … that day I finally got my local line working then I message you, but it was so late liao, so disturb your sleep. Then you MSN me while I was driving (my phone can connect MSN via 3G now, so sometimes i accidentally leave the connection on then ppl message me.) so never reply you also.

… Sleepy liao … it’s a Thursday night … yawns … too much outstanding work, but I need “zzz” … =)

I’m right back at square 1 again.

Going to the UAE again this evening. Going to work there for 2 months this time. If this is the way, then let it be taken with confidence and anticipation.

Hopefully, less complain calls across the globe. =)

I could blame the McDonald’s brothers , Dick and MAc , who reopened their fast-food diner in San Bernardino, California, with the brilliant idea : get rid of everything on the menu that requires the use of a knife and fork.

Just like the Philips slogan: Sense & Simplicity

Had a great business etiquette training with Corning yesterday. Things i achieved during the session:

1. Managed to keep my audience hyper active and partcipative throughout the entire session

2. Managed to deliver all the important points and happy to hear my participants say that they benefitted a lot from the class 

3. Most importantly, i felt happy after the training! 

Some feedback to take note:

1. My limited Chinese vocab

2. International business protocol – opening the present in front of the presenter

How do you access if what you choose is Right or Wrong?

Who determines what is Right or Wrong? The norms? You? Others?

How do you know if this is the Right way…based on someone’s experience?

How to determine if it is the Right Time?

 

… when it’s to do with one’s life.

Dunno why I feel so guilty … or paiseh (a better term which is not even English). It’s like when people put their hopes on you and you already know you might let them down. So, this afternoon when I went to meet the GM of the joint venture, he had just came back from the development site and he looked really tired (as though he had just been hit by a train) and he was pouring out his concerns and problems. He kept saying he knows I shouldn’t be the one he should be telling this to, but I think there really isn’t anyone else left from “our” side so …

“I like you. I think you can be the anchor for the company. To bring together things, coordinate and get things done. I hope you will stay on, but I’m not sure what your arrangement is with Million, etc … ”

Then in my mind, I was thinking … just the night before, I had so many thought of what I wanted to do else where in another totally different industry. Perhaps, if I was from SDE, or some similarly related industry, I might really be into this whole job.

When I first came over here, I was initially not very excited, a part of me still longed to be in Shanghai, after all, that was what I had been planning for for so long, and you’re there. Anyhow, I tried to get used to the place … but was never totally devoted here. At first I thought it was just cos’ of Shanghai and Dubai, the difference in place … but I gradually realized that it was more to it … it was also the industry which did not intrigued me. Curtain wall … it will never be something that I design. The designer/engineer says it’s beautiful, but I don’t get it. The only thing I appreciate is when the building is completed and I see it and go wow.

So, although I have a clearer picture of what I want, I am still torn and torn towards a particular direction, which makes working here alittle more challenging, since I’m beginning to get bored and disinterested in things. =( Not good.

Yet, I shall give myself somemore time to see how. See how?!
