A Story of An Elm Tree

 

This is a special year for us. We spend the entire year planning and doing 10 things we have not done for each other since we dated. The idea behind this project came about because as time goes by, i observed couples get comfortable in relationship and stop doing things they used to do for one another when they first fall in love. I want our love to continue to live and sparkle even when we are 57, to feel like its renew and refresh, like the first day we feel in love. I want to leave the world with you remembering the best things we share and wonderful things we do for one another – that’s what loving you is all about, about you in my life, about us.

 

Month 1:We will spend a month thinking and listing the 10 things we will do for

one another- what we will regret if we do not do for each other.

Month 2 onwards : Set out to plan and achieve the 10 items together.

Month 6 : Reward each other for the one item we feel most strongly that was done for one another.

Month 12: Noble prize for the one item ( 1 out of the 10 items ) – We will each plan what the noble prize is.

 

No cheating ! I will update this blog in 2066 on the 10 things you and i have done for each other.

 

We travel to Japan and live there for 3 months in a village near Hokkaido. We  teach the children in the village Englishand Chinese. Occasionally, i teach them to paint. I have always wanted to do this, live with you in Japan, in a simple wooden house where we live a simple life and give back to the society. I chose Japan because of the ready infrastructure, the cleanliness and the lavender field and flowers blooming in summer,where we cycle and the sun shine on our faces.

I love cooking for you my darling and visiting the fresh wet market with you. These days, we like to eat light. with age, we need to go light too but you will always cook you favorite  ginger sesame chicken for me. We will have our dinner on the small square wooden table, just nice for the 2 of us, can contain no more.

At night when it’s quiet , we will kiss and make love on this wooden bed with fresh white bedsheets that smells of fresh flowers. I love you and still is very naughty at this old age. I love to look into your eyes whenever you come inside me. I feel so love darling, by you for all these years and keeping your promise to take care of me. Thank you.

Though it was a simple 3 months, we felt happy to contribute to the society again. We have decided the next destination will be to China again, Yunnan. I love Yunnan, especially the old village where the culture of singing to someone in the opposite teahouse still rings in mind , like it was yesterday when i first visited Yunnan in 2007. In Yunnan, i taught the children on painting and you taught them how to use the internet. Surprise as it may be, there are still many children in the village who does not know how to use the internet.

We have never been happier chilling out for Chinese tea in the old tea house. Nothing has changed , the old wooden tea houses by the small river. I love to read there with you on the afternoon, then we hold our hands and walk back to our simple house by the river which we rented from the residents.

Moganshan is our next 3 months destination – to recall our loving moments @ Naked when we are 27. We rented a small house and teach in the nearby school. We will take a walk in the bamboo forest in the morning. I love to wake up in the morning and to fall asleep at night with you in my arms. I feel safe. I feel love.

Our last 3 months was back to Singapore home. After 9 months away from home, we missed our children and time to be home with them and our grandchildren.
